About me

I'm an 19 year old who is currently studying Commerce (Liberal Studies) at the University of Sydney and working part time at a small funds management firm. I started to get interested in the share market when I was 15 through my parents, who got into the game of day trading, trying to predict short term movements in share prices. Imitating that strategy to some degree, I came up with rather mixed results, but I was fortunate enough to be introduced to the concept of 'value investing' a few months later through Roger Montgomery's book, Value.able.

Since then, my eyes have been opened to the complex world of business that is the stock market, not the random squiggles I thought stocks represented - along with, might I add, much improved financial performance. My focus has been on building up experience whilst also learning as much as possible about how to invest, soaking up wisdom from the grandmasters of investment (Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger, Peter Lynch, Phillip Fisher etc). I like the old cliché, 'If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants'. Indeed, the vast majority of my investment views originate from great investors before me who have been generous in sharing their insights, so I attempt to express my gratitude and admiration by frequently attributing ideas to them, perhaps excessively as I am aware.

I will always be climbing inch by inch, and view this blog as an attempt to reach a little higher, whilst lending a hand to others who are on a similar quest. My hope is that one day, someone will extract a sliver of value from these ramblings. So let me know if you do.

Yours sincerely,

Chris
